Alabama GOP Presidential Primary Polling Numbers

by Cliff Sims

I’ve realized over the past week or two that folks around the state, as well as Alabama media outlets, are looking for some indication of what to expect in the Alabama GOP Presidential primary.

Some insiders in the business community are discussing some fresh polling data and more than one source has confirmed to me that the numbers below are accurate. The following results are from a 500 sample public opinion survey of likely voters that was done on February 20 and 21:

Rick Santorum: 41%
Mitt Romney: 25%
Newt Gingrich: 20%

The only thing to keep in mind with these numbers is that they represent where things stood before the Michigan and Arizona results from last night. Romney’s wins may change things a bit. But this is certainly more accurate than anything else floating around right now.

Lifelong Democrat here – I was planning on voting for Santorum to help keep the Republican race interesting, but it doesn’t look like he is going to need my help. Maybe I’ll vote to keep Gingrich’s campaign on life support…

Why isn’t Ron Paul polled?

I didn’t exclude him…and I’m sure he was part of the poll, he just wasn’t listed in the results I saw.

I don’t know how anyone could justify voting for someone other than Ron Paul. He is the only honest candidate running, and he has been consistent for 30 years. Santorum, Romney, and Gingrich change what they to fit whoever they are talking to. Pathetic.

Why isn’t the most conservative republican by the name of Ron Paul on the ballet..?

Jim Franklin – I don’t know how anyone could vote for Romney or Santorum. Romney is no different than Obama and Santorum..he’s a breed all his own.

Hearsay! Report actual polls and link to raw data results. Otherwise its no different from the Lame Stream Media making things up to promote the Romney’s and Santorum’s of this world.

And you can call Ron Paul a nut all day long, but you should listen to him… you might recognize that Romeny/Gingrich/Santorum have been parroting him this ENTIRE campaign season when their numbers start to falter and Paul appears to be taking a lead. Pure, unadulterated media bias, and the public blindly trusts them!

1. The only way to gain access to information that’s not public is to protect sources. I’ve seen the numbers, I posted them here. People (including you) are welcome to decide for themselves whether they think I’m credible or not.

2. I agree with Ron Paul on a ton of issues. It’s not my fault he’s not gaining traction in Alabama. I inject my opinion into a lot of my posts, but in this case, the numbers just are what they are.

3. We agree on the media

Don’t know someone could justify voting for Gingrich and/or Paul. They are both nut jobs and one needs to go to a home. There will also be large amounts of voter fraud on the Democrat side, enabling another win for Obama. Wish this wasn’t true but look at the shady organizations that helped in ’08 Acorn and the such.

Not sure what you are talking about when you say there was “large amounts of voter fraud on the Democrat side” that helped Obama win in ’08. Nobody has ever shown that there was an organized voter fraud movement that swayed any results in ’08.

There was voter registration fraud committed by employees of ACORN that were trying to reach a quota, but those were thrown out before the election, and nobody has ever found that a voter registered by ACORN voted fraudulently.

What’s the poll source? Registered voters or likely voters? Why is it more accurate?

Cliff Sims says:

Good questions… likely voters. And more accurate because the other poll floating around is an AL St. Univ poll that was taken over the span of an entire month. Hardly a snapshot.
